Music has rocked the walls inside Veterans Memorial Coliseum for generations and will again when the 141st Arizona State Fair kicks off in September.
In its traditional home at the Fairgrounds, at 1826 W. McDowell Road, the State Fair runs from Sept. 19 through Oct. 26. With this year’s theme “Grow Happiness,” the Fair will celebrate its usual agricultural displays and even dirt track car racing throughout.
And while the Phoenix Suns called the iconic building with its saddle-shaped roof home for 24 years through 1992 – a tenure that included the 1975 NBA All-Star Game and the 1976 NBA Finals – the Coliseum has long been a home for live music. At times, in fact, for some of the biggest names to have ever passed through Arizona.
